Catch 22


Catch 22 is a paradoxical, no-win situation.
勝つことのできない、矛盾した状況。

An example is applying for a job which requires you to have 2 years experience in the identical job.
You need experience to get the job, but you need to have the job to get experience.
It's "catch-22".
ある職業に応募するためには同一の職業で2年の経験が必要だとする。
その職業につくためには2年の経験が必要だが、2年の経験を得るためにはその職業につく必要がある。

Getting "a taste of your own medicine" means that something happens to you, or is done to you, that you have done to someone else.
過去に自分が誰かに対してしたことが、自分に起こる、またはされること。

In modern society, the proverb "blood is thicker than water" is used to imply that family ties (blood) are always more important (thicker) than the ties you make among friends (water).
現代においては、家族のつながり(血)は友達との間でできるつながり(水)よりも重要(濃い)であるという意味で用いられる。
